  • ClearBank, also known as CB Infrastructure, obtained its banking license at the end of 2016 and plans to launch in Autumn 2017
  • It is the sixth (along with Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Clydesdale and Yorkshire bank, and Royal Bank of Scotland) UK clearing bank and the first to be created in 250 years in the UK
  • This bank is for financial services providers, banks, Fintechs, and FCA regulated organizations
  • The bank tech is cloud-based built on Microsoft Azure and offers a core banking system along with an API
  • ClearBank claims the company, through its technology and efficiency, could saved between £2 and £3 billion from the annual costs being paid during transactional banking in the UK
  • With over three years of development, ClearBank has had input from the Bank of England, a wide range of market players, all payment processing networks, the Payment Systems Regulator and two other British clearing banks
  • The startup has already raised $25 million in addition to investment from its founding management team
